IMPORTANT NOTE ON OUR TOURS
Here in Lapland we are a hardy bunch, and our tours take place in all weathers – so be ready! It will be cold, windy, icy or snowy but that won’t stop us having an incredible experience together.
Our NEXT LEVEL ADVENTURE requires a prior participation in a multi-day husky safari, a high level of fitness and mental strenght. We cross varied terrain and you must be fit enough to help your team and push your sled on the uphills or in deep snow. If you are not sure if your fitness level is high enough, feel free to contact us and we will figure this out together!
Please be aware that we have an age limit of 65 years on that tour.

NEXT LEVEL ADVENTURE
ARE YOU READY FOR YOUR NEXT trip with us?
Every season, we hear from our guests that they would like to come back again. For some, however, the expedition is a bit too big a step. That’s why we’ve taken your wishes and ideas and put together a new tour that builds on your experience and knowledge from the Husky Safari but is shorter then the Wilderness Expedition: THE NEXT LEVEL ADVENTURE!
WHAT'S NEW
With one more day on the tour, we can get even deeper into the Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve than last time and, as on our expeditions, are much more flexible in our choice of route. You will also get to know new cabins and travel even higher up into the mountains.
WHAT STAYS THE SAME
Just like last time, you will be travelling with your own sled and helping with the same tasks at the cabins (fetching water, looking after the dogs, chopping firewood etc.). Some of the guides from last season will be here again (we will do our best to place you with your favourite guide if possible) as well as a highly motivated dog team that is waiting to explore new trails together with you!

THE DATES
Personal touch
We believe in the personal touch. Our tours are all limited to a maximum of 4 guests all of whom are at a similar level of experience.
3 Wilderness Nights
We will spend three nights in wilderness cabins. Some of them are new, and one is familiar. Let’s see who recognises it.
New Trails, longeR route
On this tour, we would like to explore a new corner of the Vinelfjällen Nature Reserve with you, and we will also climb to an altitude of 1,000 metres!
The tour, day by day
This is an example itinerary for the tour; the route can be adjusted at short notice depending on weather and trail conditions.
Arrival day
Your guide will pick you up at the bus stop in Slussfors and take you to our fully equipped guesthouse, where you will be staying the first and the last night of the tour.
We will gear you up in warm overalls, boots and mittens, a sleeping bag with liner, headlamp and a waterproof duffle bag that you can put all your personal things in for the tour.
Then we’ll head over to the kennel, where we’ll test how much you remember from your last trip 😉 and, of course, refresh your basic knowledge of safe sledding, harnessing dogs and parking during breaks. And, of course, you’ll also say hello to the dogs. You’ll be excited to see which of your dogs you might find in the A-team again!
After dinner with your guide your are welcome to relax in the sauna or chill out in our cozy living room, and get ready for the adventure ahead!
The earliest arrival time is 14.00. We recommend to arrive between 14:00 and 15:00 to get the most out of the day.
After breakfast we finish packing our bags and head over to the kennel. We will prepare the sleds with all the equipment and food we need for the tour, then we will hook up our teams and head into the wilderness.
We’ll drive into the beautiful Kirjesålandet Nature Reserve, part of the larger 5500 square kilometre Vindelfjällens Reserve.
Each day everyone assists with setting up camp and other chores, especially looking after your own dog team- with help from your guide you will become more skilled day by day in careing for your team.
Today, we will also travel along a section of the route that was recently used by the best Northern European mushers in the Metsjövidda Fjällexpedition. So you can feel like a real pro here. We will travel across the long lakes of the Vindelfjällnature Reserve to the cabin Aivak, where we will spent the night.
On the last day on the sled, we will once again pass through the forest areas and final ascents before reaching the kennel in the afternoon. Together, we will unpack the sleds and say goodbye to the dogs.
Back at the guest house, you can treat yourself to a hot shower and the luxury of our sauna. In the evening, there will be the famous farewell dinner, where we hope to discuss many new impressions.
Today it is time to say goodbye. After a hearty breakfast, we will take you back to the bus stop ‘Slussfors, Storuman’, from where you can comfortably travel home by bus.
We will take you and your luggage to your desired bus in good time.
Departure must be before 11.00. Please note that a return journey on the 5th day is not possible.

Jon R20 April 2025Verified Mushing with a World Champion: Unforgettable! Just returned from Petter Karlsson's 8-day snow safari and still buzzing! Being guided by this world champion musher was extraordinary. His expertise, energy, and enthusiasm elevated the entire experience.Just as impressive as Petter were his world-class dogs, who 'pulled' us through the breathtaking, sub-zero Swedish wilderness. From Angela's pickup to Anna's drop-off, everything was seamless. If you want a genuine Arctic adventure led by a man who lives and breathes dog sledding, this is the trip for you. Worth every krona and muscle ache! Escape2667750001813 April 2025Verified Great experience Together with my daughter I was allowed to participate in the 5 day Husky Safari in April 25. Communication, assistance in planning the journey, equipping with the necessary expedition clothes, eating together and guidance on the sled : It was all perfectly and very personal designed. Our guide Torbjörn and wonderful dogs with different characters have guided us safely through the beautiful nature - an unforgettable adventure! Thanks to the whole team! Matthew H29 March 2025Verified Slussfors dog sledding adventure March 22-26. Awesome trip. Great adventure that everyone should try! Many thanks to Torbjorn our guide who was absolutely fantastic! An V25 March 2025Verified An Unforgettable Adventure: Incredible Dogs, Breathtaking Views, and an Amazing Guide! We just returned from an incredible nine-day experience—our second time, but we simply had to come back. Once again, it was absolutely fantastic.Julie was our guide, and she did an amazing job. Her passion and skill with the dogs were truly impressive. Whether praising or correcting them (in French!), she handled everything with expertise and care.We always felt in good hands. Our team gave her quite a challenge at times, but she responded with a smile and endless patience. The dogs were incredible. Our first day was tough due to challenging conditions, but that’s all part of the adventure and why we love doing this. The views were stunning, the lunch spots Julie chose were unforgettable, and the food was excellent. Julie’s breakfasts? Absolutely hilarious! We highly recommend this trip to anyone who is fit and eager for an adventure like this. A big thank you to Anna as well for all the helpful information beforehand and for joining us on the trip.Sending a big hug to the entire team—dogs included—Julie and Anna!An & Koen from Belgium meip24 March 2025Verified Dog Sledding Tour in Slussfors - Highly recommended! The tour in Slussfors was an unforgettable experience! The scenery was breathtaking, and the dogs were incredibly well-trained and full of energy. A special shoutout to our guide, Karina, who made the tour both safe and exciting with her expertise and friendliness. The organization by the back office was also excellent. What made this trip even more special was the teamwork involved. We not only drove the sleds but also took care of the dogs, feeding them and ensuring they were well looked after. The group (four guests and our guide, Karina) was fantastic. We had a great time together, whether it was preparing meals, caring for the dogs, or settling into the cozy cabins where we spent the nights. The atmosphere was fun and cooperative, making the experience even more memorable. If you’re looking for an authentic and hands-on dog sledding adventure, this is the perfect choice! Cruiser0191164842519 March 2025Verified Husky tour of the frozen North Any amazing few days on tour with 5 huskies and a sled, plus all the provisions. The organisation is magnificent as are all the staff and the dogs. Special thanks to Anna for all the booking and providing advice and information at the outset and for hosting us on our arrival and on departure. Our tour leader was Roger and we couldn’t ask for a better guide, who not only had to look after the sixteen dogs we had with us, but also had to look after myself and Antoine, my French companion on the tour.3 beautiful days out in the frozen and snowy landscape of northern Sweden, just a few kilometres from the arctic circle. Thank you all for an experience that I would recommend to anyone with a taste for adventure, a bit of stamina and no fear of being a bit cold.I have to say that the “5 day tour” was a bit of enthusiastic marketing having arrived at 2pm on Friday and departed at 9am Tuesday, but that said, a big tick off the bucket list. Thank you Roger, I think I got to grips with the harnessing and tow cables in the end! Isaac P18 March 2025Verified Beautiful Northern Adventure! Quite an amazing trip! Our guide Torbjörn did an amazing job of teaching us, and Anna was quite helpful as well! The descriptions were all accurate and we were able to help care for the dogs, do chores, and really get the whole dog sledding experience. The weather and northern lights are out of the control of the people running the tour, but they were pretty perfect as well. For a trip in mid-February, weather was between -19 and -7°C each morning and the sky was clear both nights for the northern lights (2025 was supposed to be a good year in terms of solar activity, and it was!)I felt as though the “medium level of fitness” was applicable. If you get a team of young, energetic dogs, you might not have to help up the hills at all. If they’re a bit older or slower, you might need to run with them a bit. It’s definitely a bit more of a rustic experience, so if you like camping, hiking, log cabins, and spending plenty of time outside, then this is a great trip for you!All in all, great dogs, great experience, great people! Would highly recommend booking directly through Petter Karlsson and not through a third party travel agency so that more of the money goes to the kennel. Monika S8 March 2025Verified Incredible tour you will never forget. 7 days and 6 nights out in the wilderness of Lappland. A fantastic, so beautyful and physicaly / mentaly challenging tour which is absolutly unique. The dogs are incredible, the matetial high quality, the food delicious and I made a friend for life. Matthias M26 February 2025Verified A mental oasis out of the hamster wheel everyday. There is so much strength with the dogs and nature. A wonderful time spent in nature with the dogs and our guide Karina. Made the 5-day tour and can only recommend it. Nice guest house and the team is very knowledgeable and friendly. The right mix between doing all the necessary activities for the tour and daily stages and yet there is time to enjoy the beautiful landscape. Gladly another time. The dogs are really on your mind! Bo G24 February 2025Verified A great day. Me and my wife came for a one-day tour. Understood this later that it is not at all the most common kind of tour here. This was the first time with sled dogs for us. We had quite high expectations and had read up before and decided that it was right here in Slussfors with Petter Karlssons dogs we wanted to try one of these things.Had some excitement about how it would be with the dogs because there were so many but I must say that it was incredibly well kept and nice dogs. Pure happiness to get to know your team for the day. The place and the people gave a very nice impression. The tour itself, which I think was about 50 km, was really beautiful and challenging for a beginner. Luckily of course Petter drove first and I guess it makes it easier for the dogs to know where they are going. We could just kind of go along. Very nice also to be treated with home burgers and get a nice conversation with Petter up there on the mountain.I had to give this experience, only five stars because there are no more to give. But clearly this was an experience far out of the ordinary in the mountains even for me and my wife who are used to spending a lot of time in such places.BosseTripadvisor rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 67 reviews
