What is an extreme adventure?
An extreme adventure is about stepping outside your comfort zone and experiencing nature in a way that challenges you. In Swedish Lapland, a dog sledding expedition takes this experience to another level, with several days spent travelling through remote wilderness together with a team of Alaskan Huskies.
This is not a traditional dog sledding tour where you simply enjoy the scenery from the sled. You become part of the expedition, take responsibility for your dogs and help with the practical work along the way.
For those looking for a true Arctic adventure, a multi-day dog sledding expedition offers the chance to experience the wilderness up close and become immersed in life on the trail.

If you are looking for a more challenging dog sledding experience in Swedish Lapland, our Husky expedition could be the right choice.
Our husky expedition is a seven-day dog sledding tour (in total 9 days) through the Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve. You drive your own sled and take care of your own team of dogs throughout the journey.
It is suitable for experienced returning guests, but people without previous dog sledding experience can also take part if they are in very good physical shape and enjoy being outdoors all day. Outdoor experience like multiday hikes and trekking, bike expeditions or similar are required.
During the adventure, you take part in the daily work with the dogs and at camp. This can include fetching water, chopping firewood and taking care of the dogs.
The route takes us through remote parts of the Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve. Some days can reach altitudes of over 1200 metres, and the route can change depending on the weather and trail conditions.
We stay overnight in wilderness cabins or in an expedition tent. Which one we choose depends on the weather forecast for the night and the distance we need to cover.
For us, this is what makes a more challenging dog sledding adventure special. You are not simply travelling through the Arctic. You are part of the team, working with the dogs and experiencing the wilderness at a slower pace.
Fitness level for an extreme adventure
Your fitness level is an important part of any demanding dog sledding adventure.
When you drive your own sled, you are an active part of the team. The dogs do most of the pulling, but there are situations where you need to help them. This can mean pushing the sled uphill, helping in deep snow or working with the sled when the trail becomes more difficult.
You should therefore have enough strength and endurance to be active for several hours a day. You also need to be comfortable being outdoors in cold and changing weather.
Previous dog sledding experience can be helpful, but a good level of fitness is especially important if you are new to the activity.
An extreme adventure is not about being an elite athlete. It is about being physically prepared for the conditions and able to contribute to your team throughout the journey.

Want to Get a Taste of the Expedition First?
A full dog sledding expedition is a demanding adventure that requires both time and physical endurance. If you want to experience this type of adventure but would prefer a slightly shorter journey first, our Next Level Adventure offers a great introduction.
The Next Level Adventure is a challenging six-day dog sledding experience. While it is shorter than our nine-day Husky Expedition, it is still a physically demanding adventure and gives you a real taste of what it is like to spend several days on the trail with your own team of dogs.
If you are curious about expedition-style dog sledding but want to start with six days rather than committing to a longer journey, the Next Level Adventure can be a great place to begin.
