IMPORTANT NOTE ON OUR TOURS

Here in Lapland we are a hardy bunch, and our tours take place in all weathers – so be ready! It could be windy, icy or snowy but that won’t stop us having an incredible experience together.

Our 5 and 8 days tours require a medium to high level of fitness. We cross varied terrain and you must be fit enough to help your team and push your sled sometimes.

5 Day Tour

Experience the magic of dogsledding through Lappland

Get ready for the ultimate winter adventure as we teach you how to care for and drive your own team of alaskan huskies. The way we work here is quite unique. Every dog in the kennel is either a current hero of the sport of dog mushing or a rising star. Running alongside them are a few senior champions. Between them all, they have won races as long as 1200 km!

Together we will explore the beautiful wilderness of Kirjesålandet. Kirjesålandet is part of the Vindelfjällens Nature Reserve, the largest area of untouched natural beauty of its kind in Europe.

Days driving your sled through perfect snowy landscapes, nights in a wilderness cabin, enjoying dinner by the fire and life under the stars, what could be better!

The tour, day by day

Arrival day

Your guide will pick you up either buy the bus stop in Slussfors or from the flight transfer from Arvidsjaur.

You will be staying the first and the last night of the tour in our fully equipped guesthouse.

We will gear you up in warm overalls, boots and mittens, a sleeping bag with liner, headlamp and a waterproof duffle bag that you can put all your personal things in for the tour.

Depending on your time of arrival, you will eat lunch and dinner together with your guide.

You will also go to the kennel for an introduction of mushing and meeting our Alaskan Huskies.

After dinner your are welcome to relax in the sauna or chill out in our cozy living room, and get ready for the adventure ahead!

Every morning our tour starts with a hearty breakfast together, and preparation for the day to come. With assistance from your guide you will harness your own team and make your dogs ready to start.

A quick check to be sure we have everything we need and then it’s time to hit the trail! Over 30km of perfect winter trails will be our playground on this first day.

In the afternoon we arrive at our first wilderness cabin, Flottar Koja which sits beside a beautiful stretch of fast running river. Between the forests and the mountains, with open water all year round, this is a hidden gem of peace and beauty.

Every afternoon when you arrive at a new cabin we will take care of and feed the dogs together as a group. After that we share a traditional evening meal – on the first day that means moose and potatoes fried over a pair of open fires on a traditional outdoor muurikka!

This day we travel through inspiring mountain landscapes. Along the trail we will see the natural wonders created by the arctic weather, like pine forests covered by so much snow that they look more like giants or trolls than trees. It is easy to see what inspired the ancient stories of the vikings!

This part of Lapland is rarely seen by humans and you can easily get the feeling that you’ve been transported into a fairy tale world.

In the afternoon we arrive at our next cosy wilderness cabin. After the usual dog chores and a hearty dinner guests have the opportunity to unwind in our remote wilderness sauna!

The more time you spend together with the dogs, the better you get to know them and you’ll start to discover their different personalities.

Nature will astound us anew with different views every day. On our last day on the sled we will travel through ancient spruce forest on the way back home to our husky camp in Slussfors.

After some time to wash up and relax it’s dinner time – your guide will serve a delicious meal while we all swap stories and talk about the adventures we shared.

Departure day

On the final day, depending on what time you will depart you can have a relaxing morning, enjoying breakfast and packing your things.
